Zadorin’s formal artistic journey began at the Leningrad Art School (named after Iohanson), where he honed his foundational skills. In 1969, he graduated from the Leningrad Higher School of Art and Industry, specializing in Ceramics and Art Glass, an area in which he would later leave a lasting legacy.

Throughout his career, Zadorin was an active and respected member of Russia’s artistic community. He was a member of the Artists’ Union of Russia and contributed significantly to key artistic movements in St. Petersburg. From 1977 to 1986, he was part of “One Composition, ” a renowned collective of ceramists, as well as the St. Petersburg Academy of Contemporary Art and the “Ozerki” association.

A leader in both artistic practice and education, Zadorin played a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of artists. He served as Chairman of the Admission Committee at the St. Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design, helping to mentor young talents. He was also a member of the artistic council of the Imperial Porcelain Factory (formerly the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory), a key institution in Russian decorative arts.

Zadorin’s work gained international recognition, with his participation in numerous exhibitions, competitions, and conferences worldwide. His unique artistic voice and dedication to harmony and creativity influenced generations of artists, leaving a profound impact on Russian and global art. His life’s work stands as a testament to the power of artistic expression.

After a long and courageous battle with illness, Alexander Zadorin passed away in October 2006. His legacy continues to live on through his art and the many students and artists he inspired.
